HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM (“SECTION 8”)
WHAT IS SECTION 8?
The Housing Choice Vouchers Program (often referred to as “Section 8”) is the federal government’s primary program to provide housing for Americans who are living in poverty, as well as the elderly and disabled.
Section 8 vouchers allow a person or family to rent a privately-owned unit. Needham Housing Authority receive funds from HUD to pay part of the tenants rent to the landlord and the tenant pays the remaining balance.
